Pajama Sam: Games to Play on Any Day |
---|
Developer: Humongous Entertainment This game has unused graphics. |
Sam gets bored on a rainy day, so he decides to play a board game. But, as always, he winds up falling into another world where... he can play various games, including Checkers Jumping Beans, Mancala Rock Pile, and Tic-Tac-ToeCheese and Crackers.
Pajama Sam Full Game
This game has somewhat of a reputation for being one of the rarest Humongous games, being released late in their lifetime before they completely went under and got bought out by Atari. It's also the last time Pamela Adlon voiced Sam, and he wasn't voiced by anybody else in any fourth game, which definitely doesn't exist.
- 2Unused Graphics
- 3Unused Dialogue
- 3.2Jumping Beans
Unused Subtitles
Like every Humongous game ever, this game has subtitles that can't be turned on normally. They can be viewed by adding TextOn=1 to hegames.ini or by using ScummVM.
Unused Graphics
There's quite a bit of them, too.
General
Graphic | Notes |
---|---|
Yetagain, the yes/no prompt graphics from Putt-Putt Enters the Race are stored with the Humongous logo. | |
Also stored with the Humongous logo is this palette. Blue's Treasure Hunt has a similar graphic. | |
Room 6, which contains the intro's graphics, has this message that can be found in most other Humongous games. | |
Stored with the graphics for the ending is what appears to be a crude early version of the puzzle game, featuring a screenshot from the beginning Pajama Sam 3: You Are What You Eat From Your Head to Your Feet. | |
Room 11 contains yet another message. | |
An early version of the Happy Fun Squares interface. | |
An early interface for the puzzle games. | |
Yetagain, the graphics for the save/load screen from Putt-Putt Travels Through Time are leftover in the game's files. | |
A placeholder save/load icon. Since this game is just a minigame collection, it has no place to fit. Similar icons have been in Humongous games since Putt-Putt Joins the Parade. |
Hidden Developer Photos
Adding WeMissYou=1 to hegames.ini or scummvm.ini will add multiple photos of Humongous developers to the puzzle games. Judging by the name of the setting, they probably left the company before or during the game's production.
Unused Dialogue
To do: See if these are really unused or not. There is a slight chance Florette's tie lines might be used if it's possible to tie at Concentration. |
Tie Game
Sam, Florette, and Carrot have dialogue for the event of a tie game. However, the only game it is possible to tie at is Cheese and Crackers, which features Darkness, leaving these unused.
Audio | Character | Transcript |
---|---|---|
Sam | We tied! | |
Sam | That's a tie game! | |
Florette | We tied that game! | |
Florette | That was a tie. | |
Florette | Well... a tie game. | |
Florette | It's a tie! | |
Carrot | Wow, we tied! | |
Carrot | Tie game, man! | |
Carrot | Look at that, tie game! |
Jumping Beans
Florette has a lot of unused dialogue for Jumping Beans.
Alternate Takes
Alternate takes for Florette's introduction to the game. Her third line ('Jump over your opponent's piece...') does not have an alternate file.

Are you ready to play Jumping Beans? | ||
The object of the game is to get as many of your opponent's pieces as possible. | ||
Once you've reached the other side of the board, you can crown your piece and move freely about the board. (unused) Once you've reached the other side of the board, you can crown your piece and move about freely. (used) | ||

Advice
Florette has lots of sound clips giving hints to the player, i.e. trying to move to a square that they can't. Trying to click a square you can't move to doesn't do anything, and selecting a square that already has a piece simply selects that piece instead.
Audio | Transcript |
---|---|
Maybe you should try to jump. | |
I believe you need to jump. | |
I think you need to jump. | |
Move your piece to the space that is highlighted. | |
When a space is highlighted, you can move there. | |

You can only move forward. | |
I think you can only move forward. | |
Now you can move to any square. | |
I don't think you can move there. | |
Try moving to a different square. | |
You already have a piece there. | |
You can only move diagonally. |
No Jumping?
Audio | Transcript |
---|---|
On this level, you don't have to jump if you don't want to. |
Florette apparently telling the player that jumping is optional on the selected level. You have to jump regardless of the difficulty level, and why would you not want to jump in the first place?
Cheese and Crackers
Audio | Character | Transcript |
---|---|---|
Darkness | Player one, you're the crackers, and player two is the cheese. |
In Cheese and Crackers, the first player is always cheese and the second player is always crackers, never vice versa.

How To Play Pajama Sam Rom On PC
There are two components for playing a psx Pajama Sam rom on your PC. The first component is the emulation program which can imitate the psx OS and software.
The second component is the Pajama Sam rom itself to play on the emulator.
Pajama Sam Free Game
Step 1: you can start by downloading a reliable and bug free emulator. We’d suggest Retroarch – it’s open source, fast and one of the most frequently updated.
Once you have finished downloading Retroarch, extract the downloaded .zip file to a location, for example your Desktop. After, double click the RetroArch-1.7.5-x86-setup.exe file in order to start the emulator.
Your emulator will now be ready to play Pajama Sam rom. But now you’ll need to find the correct ROMs online. A ROM is essentially a virtual version of the game that needs to be loaded into the emulator.
Step 2: return to Retroarch and hit File > Open. Navigate to the downloaded .exe file and double click it to open it. The game will now run on the emulator and you can play the game freely.
Tip: Saving games on an emulator functions a little differently. The integrated save system will not save your progress.
Instead, you’ll need to click File > Save State and then choose an empty slot. You can save your progress in whatever point you like within the game, not only on the official checkpoints offered by the game.
When playing in the future and you want to continue from your saved state, you can use File > Load State to load up the game from exactly where you last saved it.
